C S A  P R O G R A M

*2023 starting dates are June 6th and June 8th*

As we've progressed as a society, one of the most vital components we have lost is our connection with our food and the people who grow it.

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs bridge the gap between your local farms and people by offering shares of their harvests. It helps reconnect you with the soil that is local to you and the growers who are apart of your community.

At Spring Bluff, our CSA program is the relationship between our garden and you. We invite you to be members of our farm rather than just a shopper at our store.

Our CSA has shares for 16 weeks and 18 weeks with an option of a half share or full share veggie lovers.

Both start in June and end in either September for the 16 week option or October for the 18 week option.

Members are responsible for showing up at Spring Bluff Nursery each week to pick up their share of freshly harvested produce (and/or other goods).

With a half share you will generally receive one half of a brown grocery bag (14” x 12” x 7”) of vegetables and sometimes fruits. With the full share veggie lovers you will generally receive one full brown grocery bag of vegetables and sometimes fruits.

Our Growing Practices

The gardens at Spring Bluff Nursery have been and will continue to be grown and cared for without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, only OMRI approved products will be used in our gardens. OMRI or Organic Materials Review Institute is a nonprofit organization that provides an independent review of products intended for use in organic production.

Our hens have continuous access to the outdoors and live without antibiotics or growth hormones. They enjoy visitors, especially children who feed them.

The honey offered through our CSA is either made by bees foraging at the nursery or local to the area.

Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. The quantity of produce, flowers, and even eggs may vary from week-to-week or month-to-month due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows: If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the nursery that are ready for harvest. If a large portion of crops fail, we may not be able to deliver any product in a given week.

Sharing in the Reward of Crop Surplus

Our members are offered the best produce from our garden, hand-selected and freshly harvested. When crops are especially abundant, we pack as much as possible into your share. When there is a surplus those varieties will be made available to members who can use them.

Pick-Up

You must sign up for either Tuesday or Thursday and stick with that day the entire season.

You will be contacted by email each week of your pick up as a reminder and to let you know what is likely to be in your share that week. You will also receive an email about 3 weeks before the start date to let you know how things are going.

We hope to make this as convenient for you as we possibly can but know that sometimes you can be held up on pick-up day. If you are going to be late or miss your pick up, please email or call and we will try to accommodate you and make other pick up arrangements for that particular day. If we don’t hear from you we will assume you aren’t picking up that week and donate your share. If a Tuesday or Thursday pick up is not possible other arrangements may be made, contact the garden manager for information. This option is limited.

An end of the season “Gleaning” opportunity will be scheduled for all members. This is a great opportunity for your family to come visit the gardens and get an extra week of vegetables. This will generally be the first or second week of October.
