So we got our second share today, and I’m so excited to try some new recipes.

We have been having a problem recently with my younger two (ages 2 and 4) and green things.  They are all for peas and usually broccoli and almost any frozen vegetable, but we have a lot of problems with green leafy vegetables.  But I had this whole bundle of kale yesterday, and so I decided to try to sneak it into them.  In the form of a smoothie…

I found this great recipe from Real Simple.  I did adjust it a bit — I added a bit more kale, used frozen pineapple, and swapped almond milk for coconut milk — but the outcome was terrific.

The kids were begging for more.  They did notice the little green flecks.  We called them flavor flecks and quickly changed the subject.  They are looking forward to having some more tomorrow.

I’m hoping to try some more smoothie recipes this week because any time I can get veggies in my kids’ bellies without a battle is a win-win for me.  I’ll share some more early next week if I find some good recipes.  In the meantime, please feel free to share some of your favorites.  I would love to hear them!
